She currently lives in Lafayette, Louisiana, where she writes commentaries, essays and satires about contemporary society and culture. Through Tropic of Candor she hopes to constructively channel her exceptional forthrightness into food for thought. She encourages greater acceptance of candid communication and welcomes comments from outspoken readers.
M.J. Coreil grew up in small-town Louisiana, studied anthropology at the University of Kentucky, started a family on the Texas Gulf Coast, and lived and worked for 25 years on the west coast of Florida. From 1977-2010 she made regular trips to Haiti for research and development projects, crossing the Tropic of Cancer many times.
